The Steven D. Moore Memorial Scholarship

Stephen D. Moore

Venturi, Inc. is pleased to announce the Steven D. Moore Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is administered and awarded annually through the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA), an organization in which Steve was heavily involved. AAAA awards this scholarship to a graduating high school senior who best exhibits Steve’s zest for living, commitment to giving more than he received, and interest in advancing military and aerospace initiatives. The winner will show strong academic performance; a penchant for a career in engineering, the military, aviation sciences or other government service; and a reputation as a leader who takes action to improve life for others. In addition, peers, teachers and other adults in the community hold the scholarship recipient in highest regard.

Steve Moore entered the U.S. Army through an ROTC Scholarship. With a Bachelors degree in Biology from Florida Institute of Technology and a Masters in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School, Steve believed in the value of education and life-long learning.

A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, he was a Senior Army Aviator who flew rotary-wing aircraft. Following a twenty-year Army career in Aviation, Test and Evaluation and Range Operations, Steve worked with large and small government contractors in diverse leadership positions. He was the Senior Engineer/Test Director for the Ground-Based Interceptor missile for Ground-Based Missile Defense (GMD) Integrated Flight tests at the Reagan Test Site. As Director for the Range and Launch Operations Group, Steve worked as the Functional Manager for a team of Range and Launch Operations Group analysts. In March 2006, Venturi had the privilege of employing Steve as a Senior Program Manager providing senior-level technical support to the Missile Defense Agency Combined Test Force
(CTF) and as the Range Operations Supervisor at the Kodiak Launch Complex (KLC) in Kodiak, Alaska. In addition to these duties, Steve tirelessly played an integral role in all business development initiatives
to grow the company.

Known to many as an avid fisherman, a dedicated Boy Scout Leader and supporter, and an active member of AAAA, Steve acted as a generous mentor to numerous people. He demonstrated
irreproachable ethics and always acted to help others and to improve the world around him. An extremely positive and upbeat leader with a marvelous sense of humor, Steve personified an unceasing spirit of giving, cared passionately for his wife and three sons, and lived a model life that his friends and fellow employees continually sought and seek to emulate.

Venturi believes the Steven D. Moore Scholarship is a fitting tribute to a man who selflessly gave his talent, enthusiasm, intelligence, kindness and love to his family, country, employers and communities during his exemplary life.
